“Everything I write is created with the intention that it is a success.
” -C. Mikki

I AM NOT LUCKY.
YOU KNOW WHAT I AM?
I AM SMART, I AM TALENTED,
I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE
OPPORTUNITES THAT COME
MY WAY AND I WORK
REALLY, REALLY HARD.

DON’T CALL ME LUCKY.
CALL ME A BADASS.

ABOUT C.MIKKI DAWSON

C.Mikki Dawson’s (she/her) modest beginnings are rooted in Shreveport, Louisiana’s dynamically diverse but racially charged city. Raised in a low-income urban area while educated with the privileged, C.Mikki learned to balance both worlds, fueling the paradox of her writing style. Studying Journalism in college, a chance encounter with a Paramount Executive led her to drop out of college and move to Los Angeles, but a life-threatening illness would alter her journey. C.Mikki returned to Louisiana to find her writing spirit, but instead, she found her soulmate, a career at Fortune 500 companies in Human Resources, and the journey of motherhood, but like the Phoenix, the writer would rise.

In 2013, C.Mikki became an author, producer, and filmmaker, best known for her award-winning documentary, “Black & Write.”  C. Mikki collaborated on the award-winning literary anthology, “The Motherhood Diaries,” penning a gripping and personal story about the challenges of adoption. Co-Authored Kym Whitley’s debut adult literary novel, “The Delusion of Cinderella.”  C.Mikki has managed successful social media campaigns and created content for the likes of Kym Whitley (Young and Hungry – Freeform, Raising Whitley – OWN), Eriq La Salle (Laws of Depravity, Laws of Wrath, ER), Reggie “Rock” Bythewood, and Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond The Lights).

C.Mikki writes projects deeply rooted in her southern experiences of race, challenging social norms and pushing the boundaries of stories outside of racial lines. An avid reader, C.Mikki is strongly interested in converting books to film, creating content rooted in drama, historical/biographical, and psychological thrillers where strong women are placed in fish out of water scenarios.  C.Mikki also has a deep passion for equality in education and works with a non-profit in Kenya where she sponsors orphaned children from preschool to college. “Writing animated project gives me an opportunity to influence generations with work that lifts how they see themselves.”

C.Mikki resides in Austin, TX working in HR at Google for five years, and writes every day.

And where I excel is ridiculous, sickening, work ethic. You know, while the other guy’s sleeping? I’m working.” -Will Smith
